Fishing Reports
7-13-10
New Mille Lacs Slot - Effective Thursday, July 15th, 2010!
A new midseason regulation will require anglers to immediately release all walleye from 20 to 28 inches long. Currently, anglers must release all walleyes 18 to 28 inches long. Still allowing 1 over 28", total possession is 4.
Looking for some big ones? Try the gravel and pull some crawler harness or a reef runner in 30-33 ft of water. The hot color this week is "cheap sunglasses".
6-30-10
Fishing is still going strong!
In the daytime, try bobber fishing with a red hook & leech, about 1 ft off the bottom in depths of 17 - 25 ft.
In the evening, try shallow rocks in depths between 8 - 12ft and especially near Big Point, Doe Island or the buoys outside Breakers.
6-23-10
The Walleye bite remains GREAT!
We're seeing a lot more lunkers than usual this year! Get out on the water and see if you can find your catch of a lifetime! Try deep rocks in the evening 26-30 ft, plain hook & a leech still going strong!
6-16-10
The Night Ban is OFF!
The bite continues to be GREAT! The night bite gives you a little better odds, but about the only thing you can do wrong right now is stay at home!
Deep or Shallow, Rocks/Gravel/Mud, they all work!
6-9-10
The Walleye bite continues to be hot! If you're out during the day, try waters from 20 - 26ft using a lindy rig. A slight chop on the lake makes it all the better! Look for Walleye in the shallows 8 - 12 ft at night and a simple bobber & leech work best.
The Smallmouth are also biting well in shallow rocks, especially near islands such as Doe & Hennepin!
6-3-10
Best reports for Walleye are in 6 to 12 ft of rocks, using a green hook or jig under a slip bobber a couple of hours before dusk. We've also had good reports on Smallmouth Bass from 4 - 6 ft in rocks. One of our launches caught & released a 20 3/4" smallmouth this past week.
5-28-10
The big ones are lurking in the deeper water around 35ft, use a slip bobbber with a red or blue hook & a leech at dusk.
2-24-10
Walleye are nice, but this weekend it's all about the perch!
The best reports are coming from the 3 Mile area and out on the Flats.
Try using a red hook with green bead & fathead minnow.
2-17-10
Most walleye hunters are finding luck in 28 - 32 ft of water. Try jigging spoons tipped with rainbows or shiners. If you're looking for perch, try 30+ ft of water using a swedish pimple.
2-11-10
Good reports coming in on the Tulibee bite, mostly early in the morning out near 9 Mile. Isle Bay has had a good sunfish bite with people going home with buckets full.
In our neck of the woods, the best luck has been from guys working the rocks in 10-20 ft. Try a rainbow or shiner on a set line.
1-21-10
We've had many good reports the last few nights as far as "keeper size" walleye! The walleye have mostly been in waters 22-24ft in rocks and fatheads are still doing the trick. As for perch, most are finding luck in deeper waters with a jigging spoon and minnow head.
1-13-09
The bite is improving with the warmer weather!
24' - 28' seems to be the best bet with
jigging spoons tipped with fatheads for walleye or wax worms for perch.
Happy Fishing!
1-7-09
2010 ice season is in full swing and reports are positive! 2 mile is producing some nice perch during the day and good walleye action during low light periods. Big Point is also hot, especially during sun down. Try a jigging spoon tipped with a fathead at dusk and look for areas adjacent to shallow water in 22 - 26 ft. Tight Lines!

Our ice communities are growing! We are pulling to Shaw's Reef, 2 Mile, & 4 Mile. Always check in at the office for up-to-the-minute updates as well as confirmation as to which lake access to use. While the single digit temps are great for making ice, they are also notorious for cracking ice. Drive with caution, care, and SLOW speeds.
The Ice is mostly between 12 and 15 inches at this time. We have found some 9" ice around the Big Point area so we will give those areas a little more time as we have plenty of great fishing areas covered at this time. Again, don't forget to stop in the bar for the latest updates on ice conditions and to pick up your road passes.
- Fishing -
Overall, the lake has been producing well for those that have been running around the lake the past few weeks. With our privates and rentals only out for a few day's, the best report came from
8'-11' bouncing a fathead on a Swedish pimple off the bottom at dusk.

Pulling to Shaw's Reef, 2 Mile, & 4 Mile. The recommended maximum size house to pull right now is 10x16. Houses are needing to block high as many are having trouble with standing water. Don't forget to check-in at the office to pick up your road passes and get latest ice conditions as they can change fast. We currently have a bridge on the main road to Shaw's Reef. 10mph on ice!!! Safety first!

It is pull time!!
Plowing could have not have went better yesterday, thanks to our great staff and our unstoppable fleet of trucks! The snow was wet and heavy, however, we managed to get our main road to Shaws and plenty of fingers over the reef to park houses above prime fishing spots.
Today, we have a good snow falling to add to our collection, while we pull rentals and privates to their spots on the lake. We will also continue to make roads further out on the lake between pulling. At this time, we have no cracks or bridges to contend with so be sure to assist mother nature by DRIVING SLOW on this early ice.
We have a lot of great fishing reports from people that have been running with ATV's and snowmobiles. We have plenty of snow for the "toys" and I am sure the groomers will be out soon as well.
12-26-09
We have been plowing our roads all day and the ice has been cooperating! It has been slow and our main road is looking great to Shaws Reef and the guy's are currently plowing the fingers over the reef. The snow is wet and heavy so be sure to use caution when running high speed on snowmobiles when the temps begin to drop, this type of snow can make for some rough landings!
For those of you that can find it safe to travel to the lake, we should have ice roads ready for you on Sunday. We will be ready to pull the smaller private houses out as well. Due to the weight and pressure from the wet snow, we would not recommend any of the larger houses be pulled yet at this time. Rentals should also be ready for tomorrow night. We will send another update late tonight or early tomorrow to let you know if the day ends as good as it has started.
Regardless of which resort you go out of on Lake Mille Lacs, take a second to say "Thanks" to an "Ice Guy". These guys really do a great job. As well as being the first on untested ice to ensure it's safety, they literally create hundreds of miles of roadway systems on the lake to be sure everyone can have a safe and enjoyable place to fish this incredible lake.
"THANKS ICE GUYS"!

Merry Christmas !!
Ice Conditions...Not so Merry. The initial part of the storm brought us 4-6" of the nice fluffy snow that blew around on the ice with no harm done. Last night and today brought us above freezing temps and 6-8" of wet & heavy snow. These conditions are going to make tomorrows ice work a challenge.
At this point we are sure we will not be pulling any houses early tomorrow as we assess the ice and try to make our way back onto the ice. We will update everyone on facebook and our website as soon as we have any information on our pulling status.
12-23-09
We currently have 9" to 12" of ice and are still hoping to pull houses after Christmas. We will send quick updates on the weather situation over the holiday as the forecasted storm could affect our pulling schedule.
The bite has been picking up with limits being had. Now is a great time to be running around with your portables on sleds or ATV's before the rush of houses start occupying the lake.
Be sure to note our holiday hours of service and stop in for a hot meal or a cold drink!
Please remember when we do start pulling houses - it is on a first come, first serve basis and you must be at the Wharf in person to tell us where to pull your house. We do not take GPS coordinates. We will update our website and send an email when we do start pulling.
12-22-09
Ice is 9" to 12” thick. This morning there was a 10” crack going across the road from Big Point to Doe Island. Depending on what the forecasted snow storm does, it will depend on whether we will be able to start pulling after Christmas. Predictions show 8" – 12” of heavy, wet snow.
12-16-09
We have started the Ice Road preparation and created a staging area in front of the Wharf! Dennis checked ice around Noon today and we have 7" to 10" in the Bay. We are still on track to start pulling houses around Christmas!
Plan your special NEW YEARS at the Wharf now!

Ice Report - It's overcast and snowing but I thought everyone would appreciate a picture anyway. It looks like the cold temps will be sticking around a while, watch the ice grow!!! Single digits highs with below zero lows are in the extended forcast!
